When I have doubts whether a file may or may not be a virus,

I suggest you use this free site, which looks for different virus scanning engines, whether or not there is a Virus, Trojan or Malware associated with the file.

If 80% or more of the engines check, detect a file as being infected is that it is

    Code:
    http://www.virustotal.com/en/

Thanks for the link and advice. I would like to know how do you interpret results from that site. Sometimes I have seen that the site states that Avast, AVG and other shows that a file is malicious or has a 'virus' and then something like Kaspersky doesn't and at the end it's shown to be a false positive. What is the rules of thumb to go by when using this service? Thanks

I stumbled upon an even better resource just today, which incorporates this, but also others.
